Your personal background.
I'm a retired professor from a local Community College, having taught automotive for nearly twenty years, and I like (among other things) computers. I have moved up to Rockford, IL (USA) into a retirement community that has a wonderful view of the Rock River when I retired primarily to get away from the hustle and bustle of where I used to live before I retired. And another benefit is it costs less to live here.

Since I do have my computers on 24/7/365 I chose to give them something to do, like BOINC. I first began using BOINC to search SETI, but that project has since been mothballed. I also have chosen Einstein@Home & Universe@Home, and occasionally Milkyway@Home. Yes, there are others that can give more credits, but I'm not a credit hungry "I gotta be 1st" kind of guy. Einstein & Universe suite me just fine.

FYI, I have two desktop computers and an old, feeble laptop, all running Linux Ubuntu. They are relatively new PCs, one with an AMD 3950X and the other with an AMD 5950X. Presently I have three GPUs running between my two desktops, and the laptop has no discrete GPU. I primarily run 2 BOINC projects full time on the desktops, Einstein & Universe, and just Universe on the laptop.

I have a few hobbies which have changed a bit since I retired. I still like photography (mostly landscapes) and riding my bicycle (not motorcycle), and of course computers and eating out. With the pandemic being what it is, the quarantine has had a negative affect on me. I have finally quit smoking and it is causing me to be eating more junk food at home, consequently I've put on way too many pounds. I would love to get back into fish aquariums and get a saltwater tank, but I have a restriction on the size of aquarium I can get, so that's on hold.
Your opinions about Universe@Home
I run Universe@Home because I think it is a good fit to be with Einstein@Home, and I don't mind doing the heavy computational work for the project.
