Houston; we have a problem.
Uploads not going through, Scheduler requests Timing out. Something's broken again.

Edit- Oh, and the website & forums are extremely sluggish.

No Boinc update
What does that mean???
BOINC doesn't update automatically, you need to download the latest version & install it over the currently installed version.

In the BOINC Manager click on Help, "Check for new BOINC version", and it will give you the web address.

After weeks of being unable to upload completed tasks, I removed this project. Now I cannot re add it either. Something is seriously wrong.
On your Core i9?
It's got an old version of BOINC on it (which can cause issues when trying to add Rosetta), upgrade it to the current version, then try your luck.

Hi
I have a lot of tasks that don't want to upload.
They're just sitting there as "Ready fo report"
If they are "Ready to report" then they have already been uploaded.
Yes, there are presently problems with the project- checkout the Server Thread.

Yep.
I was able to get some tasks when i got up this morning before going in to work, but most of the system functions are down again, so reporting isn't possible again.

We're back!

So, what happened???

As expected, uploads are taking a lot of retries to go through. Scheduler requests are mostly timing out, but when they don't it's coming back with
18/12/2023 20:36:48 | Universe@Home | Server error: feeder not running
and the completed Tasks aren't being reported.

No problems with uploads or Scheduler requests.

There appears to be an issue with the upload server.

It's taking a few attempts to get uploads to go through, at few Bytes per second when they finally manage to get there.

Edit- And the Scheduler as well- keeps timing out.

Make sure you've got the current version installed- the problem you are describing is exactly what was occurring with the older versions (i think it was 7.16 and earlier).

Well, i don't know where it went, but at least Universe is back again. From around 22:07 to 01:16 UTC everything was MIA.

Taking quite a few re-tries, but uploads & downloads are eventually going through. And Scheduler responses are very hit and miss at present.

With your computer hidden it makes it hard to guess.
I've yet to have a Task at Universe hang, but that doesn't mean it can't happen.

Under WIndows, the Task runtimes on my i7 8700k's vary from under 2 hours to over 6. Generaly they're between 2-5 hours.

I'd suggest exiting BOINC, give it 10-20 seconds & then restart. See if the Task continues to process, and the Estimated completion time starts to decrease. If so, leave it for a while & see it if ends up completing, if not then i'd abort it.

About an hour and a half ago i started getting work again, but then 5 minutes ago i got a "Scheduler request failed: Couldn't resolve host name" error on a request for work.
Next attempt was OK, but the response was back to "Project has no Tasks available".

We seem to be having issues- it just took a couple of tries for the Web site to come up.
And for about the last 3 hours any request for work results in a "Project has no Tasks available" response, even though there's over 4 million meant to be ready to go.

Your account shows 3 devices.
666538 Has processed & completed Tasks & has got Credit for that work.
666659 Downloaded work, but then all that was aborted by you, and it has since downloaded another 8 Tasks, but is yet to return any completed work.
666569 Presently has 11 Tasks, but is yet to return any completed work.

Given it takes a day and a half for it to process a Task that an x86 system with Windows can do in a couple of hours (and there are Tasks that will take a Windows system as long as 6 hours), it's going to take a while for them to process any work & return it (from a day and a half- at best, to around 5 days, just for a single Task).

Most Threadrippers have a significantly lower base, and somewhat lower boost, clock speeds.
eg-
        Threadripper 3990X vs AMD Ryzen 9 3900X
Base Clock 2.9 GHz 3.8 GHz
Boost Clock 4.3 GHz 4.6 GHz

Higher clock speed, shorter processing time. But if you have enough slower threads, then you still get more work done per hour than a higher clocked system with less cores/threads.

And it's alive again, although it's taking a lot of Retries to return completed work & to get any new work.

2-4 minutes of transfer time (as much as 7min for some transfers), and probably 4-7 Scheduler requests to get a response that's not an error or a timeout.
