That would be because of the old BOINC version you have. Too late to edit- or if you have upgraded BOINC to the current version then it's an indication of a configuration issue with your computer/modem/isp (in order of most likely cause) that is blocking access to the Universe servers. I did attempt to upgrade to the BOINC verson show on the Add Project page. SUCCESS! Just added Universe and it sent me 9 tasks. Wouldn't do it last niight, but it did it today. i didn't change anything since last night. Strange. S. Gaber

There were 7 tasks stuck uploading and in Transfer for weeks. Tried to restart them, but kept getting the message that the project could not be restarted and to try later, which I did many times. So I restarted Universe. Instructions said to download BOINC, which I did. Tried to add Universe, but got another message saying that the project could not be added. I can access my account through the BOINC web page. It indicates that 9 tasks are in progress and 7 are waiting for validation. How do I get Univese back in my project list and tasks list? it's also gone from my Free DC page. SGaber

Things seem to have settled down now; uploads, downloads & Scheduler requests all going through OK without need of manual intervention. Still won't upload or download, after many retrys. Always says "project backoff."

Gaber I did add Universe to my projects, then WCG and Rosetta disappeared. Had to add them all. Eventually, they all restored my projects, tasks and credits. It's weird. S. Gaber Correction: Everything appeared to be restored, but there is no data in my Universe, WCG and Rosetta statistics. That is also weird. S. Gaber

Download the new version of BOINC.[/quote] In addition to rebooting the modem, restarting the computer, removing and adding Universe, I also updated BOINC to Version 7.16.20 (x64). All the tasks that were hanging are gone am there are now two Universe tasks running. So some part of what I did worked, not sure which. S. Gaber

If there are still issues, check to see if your internet security software has updated recently, or if you have changed any firewall settings- your system is still able to contact the Universe@home Scheduler even if it is unable to contact the & maintain a connection with the upload server. Eventually, all 14 of the tasks that had been stuck in Transfers for a week, plus two that had been downloading for a week, either disappeared or got sent. I now have two U@H tasks running. I've never seen this before. They've been shown as "Uploading" for several days. Also, what's the difference between Validation Pending and Validation inconclusive? Steven Gaber
