No, that argument about having a queue doesn't stack up. I have a 1 day cache on my Pis. One that has been told for some time now that U@H has no tasks available suddenly received ten tasks last night. Meanwhile, the one that managed to get two tasks the night before last reported them last night, and is now being told the project has no tasks available:

In my case BOINC isn't leaving cores idling, it's just getting no tasks for U@H and consequently dedicating the cores to the other project(s) active on the host:

Sometimes one of my hosts does manage to get one or two new U@H tasks, but I am now down to three U@H tasks on five hosts.

I have in fact tried resetting the project, twice, and performing an apt-get update/upgrade cycle, all with no joy.

I have three Pis, and the two four-core Pis are working just fine. It's the one-core Pi that has switched from 100% OK to 100% fail with the advent of v2 v0.14 arm-unknown-linux-gnueabihf.

One of my Pis, which was flawlessly returning results for Universe BHspin v2 v0.07 arm-unknown-linux-gnueabihf, has a 100% error rate with Universe BHspin v2 v0.14 arm-unknown-linux-gnueabihf. The Stderr output is:

50) Message boards : Number crunching : Missing work credits? (Message 3037)

Post:
I just had a look, and you have just one host that is currently running just two tasks, neither of which have completed, let alone been validated. Until a task has been completed and validated by another host that completed the task with the same result, you wont get any credit for it. When a task has been completed and validated, then you get 667 Brownie points for it.

None of my hosts (which include an Android phone) are having difficulties receiving, completing, and returning tasks. I do have a number of tasks waiting for the second host to complete the task, and that wait can be lengthy if the task goes to one of those hosts that download a large number of of tasks, and then only complete one or two, if any, of them before disappearing off the internet.

A few users have reported difficulties uploading tasks, but that appears to be either a BOINC issue or a routing issue, not a Universe@Home issue. There is also a problem with some tasks either locking up or taking an extraordinarily long time to complete, but they are not very common.

So far you've cancelled nine of my tasks, five of which were active, and at least two of which were almost complete. There are also a number of WUs where one of my hosts completed the task, but the wingman didn't before you cancelled the WU. What happens to those? Do they remain in some sort of limbo?

If you read the news, https://universeathome.pl/universe/forum_thread.php?id=309, you'll see that the reason why there is no new work being created is Meltdown/Spectre, and therefore that is the ultimate reason why the concentration of problematic tasks is currently increasing.

Two tasks that have had to be resent many times arrived on two of my hosts. Both the desktop PC running Ubuntu and the Pi running Raspbian Stretch completed their tasks without a hitch.

@Chris: Unfortunately you've chosen a bad time to join the project as new task creation has been temporarily turned off, which means you'll likely see mainly tasks that have a tendency to get stuck. My Linux hosts have not had one stuck task, and until very recently my Windows host had also seen none. I get the impression some hosts experience more difficulties than others.

As a result of the Meltdown/Spectre U@H shutdown, the density of long-runners has increased (because these are the tasks getting bounced from host to host). I have received four tasks in the last couple of days that have been bounced from host to host. All four have been completed and validated by one host, but with a CPU time of zero seconds.

Of the three Win 10 tasks, two have completed just fine, but one jams at 54.905%. When I first noticed it had jammed, I shut down BOINC Manager and waited for the BHSpin task to close, which it did after a number of minutes. When I restarted BOINC Manager the BHSpin task restarted from the checkpoint, and then jammed again at exactly the same point. I have saved the files, if anyone wants them.

The fourth task is on a Pi and awaiting other (non-U@H) tasks to complete.

Edit: This entry in one of the files doesn't sound good:
error: in Renv_con() unknown Ka type: 1, iidd_old: 1324350error: in Menv_con() unknown Ka type: 1, iidd_old: 1324350

This one appears to be a candidate:
https://universeathome.pl/universe/workunit.php?wuid=13505387
This is the first and only long-runner I've had to date (I aborted it when I noticed it was lagging behind other tasks and not making any progress). One host has managed to complete it and have it validated, but note that the run time was 1,870.11s and the CPU time was 0s. Otherwise, most hosts have choked on it.
