Hi all

Is anyone else having issues uploading tasks?

Am also getting this on several of my PCs

17/05/2022 17:05:42 | Universe@Home | Scheduler request failed: Couldn't connect to server

Is there a comms issue? Seems to have been going on for a few days

Some teams are performing a de facto DDoS attack on the server (they are calling it a Penthatlon), so it is almost impossible to upload or report anything.

This attack is ongoing since 2 weeks.

Nothing do that about, other than wait for the attack to stop, unfortunately.

I imagine everyone is experiencing this. There something going on that may not be a deliberate distributed denial of service attack on the universe web site, but that is what it amounts to. When attempting to post this reply, I got the following:

The connection has timed out

I have over 60 messages that do not automatically reply. About half of them have uploaded their data, but the server has not acknowledged them. The rest have not gotten a connection to even try. If I manually force uploading, usually two go up, but then it pause for 15 minutes or so before trying again.

Some people take challenges, especially Team ones, seriously and yes they can bring hundreds of machines and thousands of cpu cores to them that are normally spread out across the projects so they just keep crunching. I used to work for a local government that had 10k pc's that they replaced every year, they did that for 4 years and then started over again, so 40k pc's total. They ALMOST let me bring them to Boinc until the local electric utility gave them a subsidy if they would shut down at least x number every night, Boinc lost out!!

There are also people working for cpu companies that will bring a new cpu to Boinc to test it out, the last one I saw was a 128/256 core cpu running 128 versions of Linux virtually.

This is getting crazy

Every node in my processing cluster is jammed with 30 to 40 plus finished tasks.

Nothing is uploading at all. Nothing.

It won't be long before these completed tasks start expiring and that will be one hell of a waste of CPU time.

Was ist hier los?

Ich habe fast 500 Ergebnisse die ich nicht hochladen kann.
Auf der Webseite keine Hinweise, Serverstatus scheint auch ok.

Also was ist los?

Same here. Not able to upload 8 WU for a couple weeks. No downloads also, except just a few minutes a go, I've got 4 WU and one of them is downloading but stalled/retrying. Crunching for Einstein@Home meanwhile...
I hope they don't get discarded if uploaded past deadline. Anyone can tell?

same problem for me. One of my crunchers is dry because of it.

@Claus-Heinrich Bruns: Es gab einen großen Wettbewerb von SETI Deutschland, der "BOINC Pentathlon" heißt. Es war sehr ärgerlich.

My vote would be for stepping on a British power plug; by comparison a Lego brick is child's play.

I've not been able to download any new tasks today, but on the positive side I only have another twenty bytes to upload on this host. It's been retrying for about four days, of course, but hopefully soon. That just leaves my other hosts; they're not doing so well.
