Hi fellow number crunchers

I run the latest BOINC on Windows. I often have to abort tasks that seem to get stuck

Is this something others experience? Is there a fix?

No this is not common. Something wrong with your BOINC installation or your hardware.

When you say "stuck", are you referring to the progress percentage not increasing?

If so, try suspending the "stuck" task in the Manager, wait a minute or so and then resuming and see if that makes the task show progress again.

Also look at the task properties in the Manager and see when was the last checkpoint written. There should have been several since the default checkpointing interval in the Manager is 60 seconds.

When you resume the task, the progress may jump back in value to resume from the last valid checkpoint. Main point is that progress completed keeps increasing.

Something is wrong on your side, tasks here complete successfully without problems.

I had a few of those stuck tasks as well maybe 10 of them last week. They all appeared on my Android devices version 10 with Boinc 7.18.1. They would run to 99.95% and than just sat there. This particular example I discovered after 30 hours but the log shows only 10 hours of CPU time. My wingmen seemed to have finished this task without problems. I translated the important info of the log file.

In the future I will try to pause the wu and restart it again.

Ok, simply pausing and restarting doesn't help. If I do that they start over from scratch until they stall again at the end. Had to delete them and start a different wu. Happens rarely but it is a new phenomenon which started occuring maybe a month ago.
