We seem to be having issues- it just took a couple of tries for the Web site to come up.
And for about the last 3 hours any request for work results in a "Project has no Tasks available" response, even though there's over 4 million meant to be ready to go.

Confirmed. 4 million to send on server status, but my computer gets:

61718	Universe@Home	Sat, 22/7/2023 12:25:50 AM	Sending scheduler request: To fetch work.
61719	Universe@Home	Sat, 22/7/2023 12:25:50 AM	Requesting new tasks for CPU
61722	Universe@Home	Sat, 22/7/2023 12:25:55 AM	Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
61723	Universe@Home	Sat, 22/7/2023 12:25:55 AM	Project has no tasks available
61724	Universe@Home	Sat, 22/7/2023 12:25:55 AM	Project requested delay of 11 seconds
I see many services disabled on server status, but AFAIK they're not ones required to send out tasks.

About an hour and a half ago i started getting work again, but then 5 minutes ago i got a "Scheduler request failed: Couldn't resolve host name" error on a request for work.
Next attempt was OK, but the response was back to "Project has no Tasks available".

Peter,
I am old enough to have read of early experiments in computers using standing waves in mercury tubes for information storage. I can't remember if it was being used for ram or for some kind of temporary data storage like the "drums" were.

Never heard of that, not sure how it would work as you'd be continually supplying the signal to it, so how is it storing anything?

Although they are still showing kids in high school magnetic core memory:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetic-core_memory#/media/File:KL_CoreMemory.jpgThere is one of those in the high school I used to work in 10 years ago. Not connected to anything and they don't power it up, probably just the teacher showing off.

Well, i don't know where it went, but at least Universe is back again. From around 22:07 to 01:16 UTC everything was MIA.

Taking quite a few re-tries, but uploads & downloads are eventually going through. And Scheduler responses are very hit and miss at present.

There appears to be an issue with the upload server.

It's taking a few attempts to get uploads to go through, at few Bytes per second when they finally manage to get there.

Edit- And the Scheduler as well- keeps timing out.

Well, whatever was going on seems to have cleared up now.
No problems with uploads or Scheduler requests.

We're back!

So, what happened???

As expected, uploads are taking a lot of retries to go through. Scheduler requests are mostly timing out, but when they don't it's coming back with

and the completed Tasks aren't being reported.

Nice to see the site back online and the feeder valiantly trying to cope under the weight of all the uploads.

I just switched on the "no new task" option for a while, to let things clear. Seemed a lot more sensible than storming off in a huff.

A request, however, to ALL projects: can we have fewer of these daft competition things? There's got to be a better way of managing BOINC resources when a specific project needs extra processing power.

Some are, it's just that there's a huge backlog. Patience seems to be the key.

Everything but the servers and scheduler are down at this time.
Guess the system got overloaded? Oh well.

No.
CAMK has planned power cut for maintenance work.
Unfortunately, gmail decided to mark it's mail group as spam and I didn't receive information about it.

No everything is back and running.

None of the back-end processes are running like the work generators or validators.

The feeder is down again, so we cannot report completed tasks nor download new ones.

I got some work and sent it back about 3 hrs ago, that's the last time I got anything.
