Or have a 3rd party app handle updates for a large number of popular programs. https://ninite.com/ Boinc is a product of its generation. How many programs written 25 years ago are (a) still around and functional, and (b) have auto update functionality written in that era? The developer pretty much abandoned active support for the program some time ago. |

BOINC Manager is open source.Not possible, as I wouldn't have access to the servers holding the updates. And if it was to autoupdate, it would overwrite my addition. |

It's already a miracle that boinc still exists after so many years and maintained with hardly no funding and so little support, and also that so few project are still alive and maintained around the world (and most of them with no funding at all, only passion), with a number of volunteers decreasing year after year, so I think whining is not the best option. I say "whining" on purpose because we should be cheering up the few admins that continue the tedious development and maintenance work on their spare time, and not throwing stones at them. |

I notice there was an outage for a few hours. No major problems i hope? Edit- ah, i found this in the "Universe@Home Computing Credits Not Updating" thread I have done some work as our main server stuck again today with no space left on disk. Definitely all servers needs some work on-site and as soon as I get possibility to travel there I will switch off project for one day to do all maintenance tasks. I might be able to provide some refurbished hard drives if needed. If so, what kind would you be in need of? The problem isn't because of lack of hard drives. Just after datacenter fail with power supply they change some internal network stuff and new one need some more configuration now. Unfortunately it needs me to go over there. Also, some work on servers needs to be done as well as I need to reconfigure some services to make it better configured to current hardware. Just checked my BOINC security certificate (ca-bundle.crt)- it's Valid till 28/01/2028, so it's the server certificate that's got problems. Grant Darwin NT |

And it's alive again, although it's taking a lot of Retries to return completed work & to get any new work. 2-4 minutes of transfer time (as much as 7min for some transfers), and probably 4-7 Scheduler requests to get a response that's not an error or a timeout. Grant Darwin NT |

With milkyway now ending. I hope this handle the lloaded.....Milkyway GPU is ending, this is a CPU project. There will be no change. GPU projects, probably Einstein, will get all the Milkyway users. Milkyway CPU is continuing. |
