We seem to be back after an extended break. Forums are sluggish, web site extremely slow to respond. And uploads & downloads are taking lots of Retrys to get through, but they are slowly clearing. Scheduler response is slow, but not too bad compared to everything else. Grant Darwin NT |

It was unplanned break. I got info that one of switches in server room was down and it's was replaced and configured first on the morning. Our machines was all the time up and running. Krzysztof 'krzyszp' Piszczek Member of Radioactive@Home team My Patreon profile Universe@Home on YT |

Thanks for the update. Things seem to have settled down now; uploads, downloads & Scheduler requests all going through OK without need of manual intervention. Grant Darwin NT |

Thanks for the update. Still won't upload or download, after many retrys. Always says "project backoff." |

Shut down BOINC and restart the host.Indeed, Boinc gets it'self in a muddle very easily. I've often seen it not bother to start GPU tasks after I changed a setting, usually the one to start doing GPU work. Restarting it changed it's mind. |

Shut down BOINC and restart the host. Did that. Got no new ones. Event log says project servers may be temporarily down. |

Did that. Got no new ones.I couldn't get into this forum once in the last three tries. I think something may be overloaded. Try pestering the server every so often with a project update. |

No problems here at all since my earlier post outage post. Exit BOINC, wait a while, then restart it. Check the Event log to see what messages are there. No recent changes to your AV software? These days they often also take over the firewall settings. You have an older version of BOINC there, if there's nothing obvious in the Event log, try upgrading to the current BOINC version. He already wrote "project servers may be temporarily down" from the event log. Sounds like Boinc can't connect. Never heard of a firewall doing that, it should be popping up a warning, but it can't harm to check the firewall logs. A new version of Boinc could possibly fix an SSL problem, but that was a long time ago. The usual test for this is to try to download the file Boinc is trying to get, but in a browser. Does anyone know the actual server Boinc gets new work from for Universe? He could type that address into a browser and see what he gets. I can't see what it is in my event log because it's working here. Maybe turning on a debug option would show it (on his computer or someone else's which is working). |

Believe there is only one server. All the processes run on it. The server is located at 148.81.25.80 A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

Believe there is only one server. All the processes run on it. The server is located at 148.81.25.80To perform the test I mentioned, I'd like to try to get the file Boinc is trying to get. Probably only possible if it's doing a download which has stuck, as a browser can download the file in the same way. Although it's all one server, there will be different processes running on it to perform all the different things Boinc requires. One could be overloaded or busted. |

Believe there is only one server. All the processes run on it. The server is located at 148.81.25.80 We have two main servers. Main project server and database server. We have also storage server and support server for various tasks. But obviously most of main services is located on main project server. Shut down BOINC and restart the host. If this is the computer in question it's running an outdated version (7.16.11) of BOINC with an expired certificate file. Solution: Download & install the latest Windows x64 version 7.20.2 from the main BOINC site. https://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php |

Decent stuff (I'd say 95% of what I have, including freeware) does, I prefer not to live in the last century. Boinc is the product of lazy programming.Shouldn't Boinc autoupdate like every other program nowadays? I feel like I'm back in the days of DOS with this stuff. Why make a million people check for updates, when 1 programmer could have written the code to do it once? A human is not a suitable entity to check for updates anyway. How often do you check? Every day? Week? Month? Year? Every single program you have? Or the program can do it in the blink of an eye. |
