Message 5206 - Posted: 27 Mar 2022, 17:04:35 UTC

I am opening this thread so we can comment and keep track of what "the server" is doing or not doing.

As of the "moment" it looks like I am not able to upload/download.

It is falling into "retry". I have limited my report # of tasks because that helped with Seti@Home was feeling congested.

Even if the server is struggling I am hoping it doesn't crash.

I see the problems too, with a frequent "Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down", the last one less than 5 minutes ago.

But the effect is negated by running it with LHC/native Theory. They have similar run times, and get along well on my i9-10900F (Ubuntu 20.04.4).
So I really see no net effect thus far. I get enough BHspin v2 to keep it going.

I had about 20 waiting to upload, but I did a manual retry, and they all went OK.

I saw a task was uploading on tablet little earlier, thinking think much about it. Then I saw I had 4 on laptop waiting retry. I manually retried. 2 went okay. 1 showed all data transferred but fell back to waiting retry and one didn't get through. On 2nd try, both cleared. Looks like the backlog is clearing up slowly.

I got 1 WU that needs to download but I got plenty in the que for now so I'll let it retry on its own.

https://universeathome.pl/universe/show_host_detail.php?hostid=617626

I have over a "screen and a half" that are either upload pending or retry in....

As of the moment.

===edit==
Now getting "active" uploads.
===edit===
paused again.
===edit==
uploading again.
===edit===
Its magic. Every time I post it has started uploading again, the data stops moving... even though it is "uploading". Yup still paused.

Ah, another complementary Project/Task. Thank you.

The upload process on the server is overloaded. Unable to get an ack for all of my 100% uploaded results. I have over 200 100% uploaded results stuck awaiting an ack from the upload process in the server.

Yes, I have five stuck uploads again. There is no point in doing them manually.
I will just let them go automatically.

Ok.
What I found, that in last few hours server get about 650'000 of finished work units.
I suspect, that most of them comes back from Formula BOINC competitors. This slows down server as every single result means 5 files which need to be processed on server.
It will come back to normal in probably few hours...

The server did fairly well for itself, as evidenced by:

Anyone else getting "Project has no tasks available" responses to work requests?

Every so often a Task or two downloads, but instead of my usual 4 hour cache i've only got one or two Tasks. Server status shows over 1.6 million ready to go.

Whatever it was appears to have cleared itself, now getting work again without "Project has no tasks available" responses to work requests.

Somebody else besides you kept hitting the task buffer at the same time. Emptying it before you got there. Looks like you un-synchronized your scheduler requests finally.

It looks like my uploads are stalled.

And when I cycled the Network connectivity everything started moving again. The joys of a 20 second rest.

Spoke too soon. Stalled again.
===edit=============
Or just uploading so slowly you think it is stalled but it isn't
===ditto====
Nope. Just dropped into a half hour back off.
====ditto=====
Looks like someone reset it again. Uploading very slowly.

No uploads, no downloads, web site & forums extremely slow. And no response from the Scheduler.
Looking at my Event log, the issues started 5 hrs 30min ago.

EDIT- with the uploads, it looks like the data is uploading, but there is no final ACK of the upload, so it fails, and then everything times out. Then it tries again, uploads data OK, but no final ACK and so it fails again, and times out again. And the loop continues with no end in sight.
With the downloads, nothing is moving in the slightest, not a single bit.

EDIT- a few of the downloads have actually managed to download.

EDIT- after a lot of retries, a couple of Results managed to upload, and one Scheduler request did get a response without timing out.

I was able to return all of mine & get new Tasks, after about 40min of continuously Retrying pending transfers clicking.

Without manual intervention, there's no hope of anything getting through.
