Currently we have nearly 600'000 WU's in progress and you finish 300'000 WU's daily! I never seem these numbers on our project :) Very big THANK YOU for your support for our project :) BTW, our server is not killed by this quantity of tasks mainly because of switching to SSD's. Thanks for the update Krzysztof. Happy to hear the new SSD's for server storage are working out. A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

Hi Krzysztof. Dutch Power Cows is having their "stampede" (a call-to-arms to focus on a single project for a month) this year on your project. You can expect our current output for the rest of this month. Good to hear your server(s) can handle the pummeling. :) In the distant past we've been known to practically DDOS a project with our stampedes. :D |

WCG is in transition to a new data center with a new project owner for the next couple of months, so lot of folks probably firing up old/other projects in the meanwhile. |

I know, I have done some contribution with my machines on WCG done too and I'm trying to be up to date with it. Exactly, that's why I'm here :) For me the two deciding reasons to go for Universe on the CPU were: 1. It's not about a pure math problem. 2. No Virtual Box. I've tried a few with VB, the result was horrible. Many errors and basically impossible to use all 24 threads on my 5900X with 16 GB of RAM. Not sure if 32 GB would be enough. Even ran out of HDDD space. So thanks Universe for being easy to handle and for hopefully doing something useful! MrS |

Try using only 4 threads for each tasks, it prevents almost all errors. |

Yes, the reason that I'm running a lot right now is that I am on 5 project, 3 are currently lacking in work (i.e. WCG, asteroids and rosetta) and that has left me some capacity, I've got something like 136 universe unit running now. I'm averaging ~150k on universe so the numbers look good. |

I just joined up since I like the whole astrophysics computing thing. and I'm looking for something for my CPUs to contibute too once I reach a Milkyway milestone. Been around long enough that OH LOOK AT ALL THESE RESULTS how will the servers cope. P.S. the SERVERS ARE FINE. :) Is just adorable. |

Try using only 4 threads for each tasks, it prevents almost all errors. The WUs were asking for just 1 thread. One LHC project asked for 8, but used only 1. Anyway, I believe it's possible to make them run but let's not turn this thread into trouble shooting for BOINC @ VB :) MrS |

With many CPU based projects run out of work, go vbox only or under sanctions, Universe@home is an excellent choice! |

Dear All, good afternoon! You are welcome. Feel free to point out which hardware configuration / software updates will yield better / faster results. Best regards, |

Hi Diego, Well for starters, you really should update your distro to an equivalent of 20.04 which pulls in the glibc libraries of 2.31 or greater. That alone will speed up your Universe task processing by 15-30% depending on your hardware. And one other issue is the age of your processor. To make use of all the improvements in glibc, you should update to a more modern cpu, preferably in the AMD Ryzen camp which has a math advantage over Intel cpus on a like for like clock basis. Currently we have nearly 600'000 WU's in progress and you finish 300'000 WU's daily! At this time of year, I sometimes test new workstations at my home,, both for reasons of how reliable they are but also in winter where I Iive electricity is cheaper than methane. Keeps my house warm cheaper with the heat from the test boxes. I do also like the idea of your project, and wish to continue to support that. Thanks all for your work with this project. e |

Salut :-) texte traduit du đ«đ· Ă đŹđ§ par: https://www.reverso.net/traduction-texte text translated from đ«đ· to đŹđ§ by: /\ Merci de votre reconnaissance, cela fait plaisir d'ĂȘtre utile. Thank you for your appreciation, itâs a pleasure to be helpful. Cordialement JpmGir 2022 ă 㯠- ăȘ :19 I want to share with you the idea that implemented this facility that you find so useful. I have been freeing computers free of charge since ~ 2006 so I have often made computers run for long periods of time. I noticed a noticeable temperature rise in the room. Indeed any energy consumption creates a proportional temperature rise. I heated my home cellar with a convector of 2000w set to 20â that gave an average temperature of 18â . When I discovered Boinc very quickly I came up with the idea of replacing my convector with obsolete computers for waste disposal with Boinc. Since then I heat my cellar with 6 computers at the end of life, 3 computers used (office, home cinema & server) as well as an old tablet (clock). The convector is set to 12â and the temperature this winter was 17.5â ( lowest ), so the electricity I consume is also useful for science. I offer you this idea in the hope that it will spread again, there are on this planet many computers intended for the waste disposal that could, with a good free system ( Linux Antix ) & boinc, make these two services heat & calculate for Sapiens ( all sapiens ). Yes, most of the electricity used for PCs is waste heat so anyone with electric heat might well put some PCs in the lower floor and let the heat rise to fill their home. Most of my winter heat comes from my PCs running. I don't use old hardware but the furnace does not turn on until low 20sF |

Yep I do the same thing. Used to keep 4 micro PCs under my desk during the winter. A little counter productive in the summer, unfortunately. :) toddnelson.net: Astro pics, solar stats, free software |
