Has anyone noticed that credits have been cut in half? Is it permanent or temporary? 30 Jun 2021, 2:01:21 UTC 30 Jun 2021, 3:43:26 UTC Zakończone i zwalidowane 1,556.64 1,551.11 666.67 |

They said they would be cutting the credit for BHspin in half after the ULX people complained that BHspin awarded too much for the same time spent crunching. Assume it is permanent as no other changes are expected. Comment was made that they could have just doubled ULX instead. A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

I'm aware of that, but would be good to hear it from KrzyszP directly - I mean some official announcement. |

That's too bad. I remember back in the day (circa 2016-ish) when 667 points was awarded for about 40 min computing on an i7-4770. Now a BH spin lasts over 1.5-3 hrs for the same amount of points. I am considering abandoning the project. You shouldn't have to constantly upgrade your hardware just to get the same ppd. The idea is that as you upgrade your hardware, your point accumulation escalates and you can progress through the logarithmic scaled badges. Right now there is just a regression in progress for old backers of the project. There's no psychological motivator to stay engaged if you just flat-line. |

Yes, unfortunate since there hasn't been any ULX work in months. All the ULX crunchers complaining did nothing but hurt the RAC and PPD of the BHSpin crunchers who have plenty of work. A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

Well this is a bummer. I scaled back my systems over the summer as my solar array couldn’t keep up and I’ve been wondering why my credit is half what it was now that I’ve ramped back up. There’s no plan to reverse this change at least while there’s still no ULX tasks? toddnelson.net: Astro pics, solar stats, free software |

Definitely think that this needs an official statement... bummer. Edit: nvm, this was previous, for some reason recent batches just are taking longer to crunch, circa 1wk ago it changed? |

They chopped the BHSpin task credits in half back in June. But all the task series displays a 4 week cycle periodicity of short running to long running set of tasks. Just look at your RAC chart for your host at BoincStats for example and you can see the repeating pattern. This occurs from the dataset parameters passed to each task in each numbered series. I did not notice credits had been cut in half. They could do it again. I run up so much credit for so little work that it is a bit embarrasing. |
