We made a poster to present the results of Universe@home project on the international conference. I must admit that the project itself gathered more interest among scientists than our results! Below you can find the poster. Generally it is the summary of the article but with more graphics.

Go here http://universeathome.pl/universe/img/poster.pdf for bigger version.

Till the end of the week I will provide for you descriptions of these typical evolutionary routes. This is exactly what your computers are calculating.

Please fill free to ask any other poster related questions in this thread.

You should have these printed out and give small ones out at the space and sci-fi conventions. Then charge a modest fee for large posters and use the profits for the project. :)

Thanks for this suggestion! Unfortunately, it is not feasible. Two most important reasons are following: 1) poster is the property of the University and we are not allowed to sell it in any form, and 2) I doubt that someone will be willing to buy a poster presenting work of someone other.

Nevertheless, we are continuously looking for additional fund for the project, thus such ideas are very helpful!

The bookstore sells University themed merchandise. ;) I realize though that's somewhat different than a third party selling it. However, perhaps it might be possible to have a company sell it officially on behalf of the University? Otherwise the only other way would be faculty or students authorized to sell it at conventions which is feasible for Europe, but probably not for North America.

Does the bookstore have an online presence where it sells stuff? Then it would be possible to have a poster present at a convention (perhaps some available for astrophysics/physics professors with official institute id) and then have them visit the bookstore.

Alternatively, with the University's blessing, set up an online shop. I'd suggest something like Cafe Press, but I don't you could get the poster in the offerings. SETI@home use to have a shop, although I'm not sure if it's still active.

Cheers,

Yavanius

Thanks Yavanius! Thus, I will have to learn how it can be done. Nevertheless, I have never seen anyone buying or selling science posters on conferences.

The thing is you have to someone there to explain (in general, we don't want eyes to glaze over!) what the poster is about, the project, and briefly about BOINC.

Actually, once they get BOINC, all they have to remember is 'Universe' and they can find the project on the list.

Just remember the original SETI@home was all about the screensaver. Most people had little clue what it was all doing, but it sure looked cool. ;)

Any chance for a screensaver? I realize at the moment, you are doing mostly simulations so you can't present a real sky-map such as with Einstein, but is there a way to show a simulation of the objects and roughly what is being analyzed (like a heads-up display)?

Yes, you are right. BOINC is very interesting on its own and, as I have written, people during the conference were very interested about it. I just doubt if they will be eager to buy the poster about our results. It is not a custom to buy, or even take, posters presenting work of someone else.

Concerning the screensaver, of course we intend to include it into this project and we have some interesting ideas. For example, the screensaver can present the evolution of interesting systems that are being currently computed. I think that it may be interesting. However, due to other more important work the screensaver has been postponed.

In the Science thread I posted the description of the typical evolutionary route leading to the formation of EULX system. I invite you to take a look.

The initial step engaged with choosing great subjects for explore papers includes a cautious thought of the educator and the class in which the paper is doled out. Ensure that your theme mirrors the subject of the course, and every one of the rules that your instructor puts forward with respect to the style and substance of the paper. For paying little respect to the general nature of your paper, if your point is superfluous to the subject concentrated in your course or, so far as that is concerned, on the off chance that it doesn't meet the educator's rules and tastes for a strong research paper theme at that point the subsequent paper won't pass summon in the class.
The first step involved in selecting good topics for research papers https://phdify.com/research-paper-help involves a careful consideration of the teacher and the class in which the paper is assigned. Make sure that your topic reflects.
