Message 3581 - Posted: 24 Jul 2019, 18:19:08 UTC - in response to Message 3577.

Hi Krzysztof!

I can see there are over 3 million WU:s ready to send but nevertheless my computers get
"Project has no tasks available" answers when asking for WU:s??
Some of them have run completely dry now, having no work at all.

Kindest regards,
Gunnar

Hi!
I've tried the update-button several times, and I have also tried the "Reset project".
At the end I completely removed the project from the computer, and then added it again,
but not even that helped.

Same here, no work available on Androids and PC's, but plenty of work showing up on the server.

Reset project didn't help - it even make more pressure on server as new host have to be added to table of waiting machines ;)

I have temporary attached everything in home and clicking max 3 times on update helps... But, this is not real solutions - I know that :(

I just create just to much tasks with updated application on same time and problem solves itself soon. If not, I will clear all caches on server tomorrow.

Hi!
I've just made one more observation:
It seems like the file libmvec yet again is dynamically linked, because I get the error
error while loading shared libraries: libmvec.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

from some of my computers.

Hi Krzysztof!

It is only the hostid=54252 machine that producing compute-error so far, but I haven't forced the other empty machines yet, so there will likely be more of my hosts showing this error.
It seems that none of the machines still running Ubuntu 14.x have got that file, but I could find it on one of the Ubuntu 18.x computer that I have here. I will check on the other machines when I get home in an hour or so.

Ok, I will wait :)

Anyway, previously machine used for compiling Linux_x86_64 app was based on Debian 7, now it is Debian 9 and some libraries are changed...

Hi!
Are there any package in the Ubuntu and/or Debian repositories that contain just that libmvec.1.so file?
If so, the fix might be as simple as apt-get installing that package, but then I guess it must be exactly THAT file:
On the Ubuntu 18.04 machine that I'm sitting at just now, I can find both libmvec-2.27.so , libmvec.so.1 , and libmvec.so , along with some static .a libraries.
If you can recompile the app with libmvec statically linked, that might be a better solution.

As I recognise, libmvec isn't linked.
Is probably linked by other standard library from system (Debian 9) :(

This is a typical problem with Ubuntu :(
Ubuntu even if is based on Debian uses it's own solutions. This is why I'm not compiling x64 apps on Ubuntu because:

Apps compiled on Debian runs on every Linux;
Apps compiled on Ubuntu runs on every Linux... If it is Ubuntu...

Edit:

Makefile script are same, as with previous application

I'm having the same error.
Should it be fixed on a server side?

I would reach the opposite conclusion. They have no problem making work, and I have not had any problems downloading the work units in the past few weeks.

Hosts are fine if they already have work then tasks can be leisurely downloaded when the server responds but not every request is returned with a task. The admin even said to update several times to get tasks so the issue still remains.

I had problems getting work for a couple of days, and manual updates did not help. Then I suspended all the other projects I was running. That caused Universe to request work, and it immediately downloaded work units.

I think there is something wrong with how the server responds to requests.
