Happy to contribute - people like you are the forefathers of future DC efforts. I hope my $5 per month combined with all other contributions allows you to keep this project alive. Hardware isnt cheap and we all know time is preciously limited, but so is being able to pursue what you are passionate about. I guess it is quite easy for ordinary users who just let program run on theirs computers to forget that maintaning such project is not so easy and it needs time, skills and effort. I didn't think about it either and I am sorry for being arrogant and ungrateful. It's a pity that univeristy is no longer funding this project. On the other hand it's good to know that at least hardware and electricity is provided free of charge. I might not be able to donate every month and try to make some one off contribution from time to time. |

I really want to know how fast a typical blackhole spins. In the BHDB results page I saw some mention about the spin of my blackhole, so I looked at my workunit results to see if there are any value. But, the result file(universe_bh2_180328_250_350574650_20000_1-999999_575400_1_r49426612_0) is EMPTY, unlike previous batches which has some log about star simulation. I also examined the log file(universe_bh2_180328_250_350574650_20000_1-999999_575400_1_r49426612_4) and input file(universe_bh2_180328_250_350574650_20000_1-999999_575400_1_r49426612_3), but none of these files have a value for blackhole spin! So what are we sending back with our computers? Maybe we should slow down so you have more time to update your app? Goodbye Universe@home and I'll be back when you are done with app upgrade. |

Would you accept GRC donations? I am pretty sure there are more than one Gridcoiners who are willing to contribute. |

Would you accept GRC donations? I am pretty sure there are more than one Gridcoiners who are willing to contribute. If you intend to sell for funding right now you could use an exchange such as Bittrex or SouthXchange so you don't have to deal with the wallet and backups. Otherwise you can setup an in-wallet donation address in the wallet's address book. |

I'm glad to help a little. Krzysztof Piszczek has either run or helped with several projects. The DC community needs more people like him. |

Sad that the "Copernicus Astronomical Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences" cannot or don't want to support you ... |

A thought: What if the OP could package the Universe@Home data into useful summary packages, for sale? Convert valuable time into a nominal income stream... BR/DA |

I think you certainly deserve to be paid for your efforts. Talented IT people should not be expected to work for free. But this is a volunteer project for all of us. Should not the University of Warsaw, or the Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences be supporting you? |

I unfortunately have to agree with this poster. If I was to calculate my electricity use and the money I have put into this PC to run this project and others I would also like to get paid. But I do it for the sake of science. My original volunteer project IT guys are volunteers and students who volunteer their time and do not get paid. |

Perhaps you should start a go fund me account or something similar and those that wish to donate can. To me a person that sets up a go fund me account with a target and a description of what the money will go towards and that it can be proven that money goes towards the intended things shown in the description is more reputable than a post asking for money. Is this project sponsored by any organization? Perhaps you should start getting sponsors from astronomy organizations and IT organizations if you haven't done that already. My original project that I joined a decade or so a go has all kinds of sponsors to help them with their costs. Just an idea. |

Patreon is basically a GoFundMe in another format. It's like a monthly donation, not a one time donation. Or so is my understanding of it. To generate a monthly salary income. Monthly I cannot do. A one time donation here or there, sure, but I'd like to know exactly what it was for as mentioned above. I've got 5 computers and a cell phone crunching this project and my electric bill is way above average. As someone said above, I do it for science and am paying though burning out my equipment like hdds/ssds cpus etc as well as a whopping electric bill. I don't mind donating something, but doing it every month gave me that sour taste in my mouth. I live near a very large national laboratory. Job descriptions for job openings include knowing how to be able to apply for grants to get projects funded. That seems to be what should be done here. Or, setup a way to make one time donations towards a set goal. Just my 2 cents. |

Patreon is basically a GoFundMe in another format. Make a donation and cancel it. 1 time donation. Done. There is no contract. One can start and stop donations whenever. |

Patreon is basically a GoFundMe in another format. I thought that was a good idea. So I just tried to donate and cancel. When I cancelled it removed my donation. So that doesn't seem to work so well. |

Patreon is basically a GoFundMe in another format. ah, in email is the answer... it says this "No charge has been placed yet. You've pledged to a "per month" page and will be charged on the next 1st of the month, Pacific Time. Your pledge renews automatically and is charged every month. You can cancel at anytime by visiting your pledge page and clicking "Edit". You can read our terms here. " So i'm going to redo this and cancel after the 1st next month. |
