BOINC is an app that uses CPU and GPU computing power to help scientists analyze their data about biology (cures for cancer, Alzheimer's, AIDS, Parkinson's, Ebola and so on; or to analyze the evolution effects in human population), about astrophysics (search and study of black holes, neutron stars, solar systems and gravitational waves), and about physics (especially LHC@Home analyzing how the particle accelerator works). The app does all this automatically. You just have to download it, attach to the project you like and set how much cores to use in the settings. That's all. I am doing something wrong. My screensaver says WORK IS SUSPENDED WHILE COMPUTER IS NOT IN USE. The laptop is plugged in and there are no programs running in the background. I can understand it suspending when the computer is in use or on batteries but this is not the case. Alan |

Suggest you use the appropriate help channel for BOINC, not a project forum. https://boinc.berkeley.edu/forum_forum.php?id=10 A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |
