There is a download problem over at LHC that was fixed by a change in the BOINC settings. I'm gathering they do, as a 1 KB file can be transferred in a single network packet, and it's probably the confirmation from the server that the packet was received that is probably not being sent back to the client. It does seem odd, and I wondered also, but some tasks in fact did error out with results never received, so gathering that they in fact are getting the results. This said, this thread was first created in March and here we are August 18, and there's still a problem, which is causing some results to create a hard error. In that case, you could try different DNS servers (in your router setup screen if you use a router).
