Hello! Your WUs have a deadline of only four days. My computer at work is off for days depending on how and where I work, so it produces invalid results, which is a waste of time, energy etc. Could you increase the deadline of the work units? BOINC intended to use the idle time of computers and I do not want to let them run just to get the WUs finished. |

I have already extended deadline to 5 days in recent WU's. Krzysztof 'krzyszp' Piszczek Member of Radioactive@Home team My Patreon profile Universe@Home on YT |

This is not enough for me :-( Today - after a long weekend - I have 5 WUs with the deadline 29.03.2015 more than 10 hours of CPU time just for the trash. Is there a reason why the deadline is this short? |

Yes... All WU's are generated with progress on one of the parameters and we wait for enough information to continue work on new app version... sometimes we get required information quicker, sometimes after loads of WU's - this is unpredictable but this is a reason why we don't want to wait long time for processed WU and waste computer power in meantime. You have to notice that people sometimes cancel WU, sometimes not keep in deadline, sometimes WU crash... if this happens, WU are going to queue and overall processing time for it are longer, sometimes even three weeks... I know that 5 days is sometimes not long enough but we have to find optimal time for crunchers and for project... Also, you can restrict quantity of downloaded WU's in config by manipulating manager settings and config file. Be careful with your cache sizes, v2 v0.02 runs much longer than v2 v0.01. Currently I have some at 13.5 hours, not finished yet, the last %%% take forever. It used to be ~4.5 hours. I hope that RSC_FPOPS_BOUND is set high enough p.s.: actually even the last fractions of % take forever, those things are stuck at 99.91% to 99.93% for quite some time now. Still using the full CPU time for each thread, so they are at least not sleeping. And while I was typing, one jumped to 99.94%, so I hope they still do something ... something useful that is ;-) |

Remember folks anything with a "9" in the workunit name is to be deleted. Or will eventually be deleted for you :( As is mentioned on the front page. EG: universe_xray_9_20000_300001-350000_304187_1 |
