Perhaps it is OS related ... My failing units were on an older Win XP system. What were yours on ?

A second system of mine running Win 7 Ultimate appears to be running BH_2 units correctly.

Well yes, it's exactly "good" old XP...
No chances for me to upgrade OS, need new hardware.
I will wait, maybe some universe@home updates will solve this.
Regards,
P.

Could people getting lots of errors please stop accepting tasks on the machines concerned? They cause problems getting tasks validated, and of course they waste bandwidth and electricity.
Two options for an old PC are to dump Windows XP and install Linux on a USB stick (64GB is cheap and more than enough if you keep the HD for user data), or dump the entire PC and buy a Raspberry Pi. I leave my Pi running 24/7 so it can run Universe@Home whenever it's not doing things for me, and it's catching up on PC crunchers (which get turned off whenever I'm not using them). Pretty impressive for something that runs off a Kindle charger.

Unless you are posting for the Admin of this project your advice to dump older systems is not productive to users in less developed countries who want to assist.

Tolerance and patience while the Admin tries to fix an Application which is posted to support Win 98 would be helpful.

I don't have money to burn either. I'm writing this on an old, second-hand laptop that I made usable, and with an up-to-date OS, by switching it to Linux (which cost me nothing). Some may not be aware of that trick.

I'm getting the error "Output file <workunitinfo> absent" as well. Did any of you find a solution? I'm using a Pine64 w Linux.

Now trying armbian os. The Universe@home wu's have been running now to 10 minutes. I won't celebrate until they're validated. :-)

I have had several BHspin wu's that failed this last week. They get to a certain point and then make no further progress. this is verry annoying since they keep a thread occupied and when this happens you only see it by checking the wu's in boinc or see your points produced go down.
