I've been getting the error message in the title for several weeks now and can no longer get work units. This affects multiple independent machines and there have been no changes I'm aware of on my end. Here is the error in context: 8/8/2016 10:08:07 AM | Universe@Home | update requested by user 8/8/2016 10:08:08 AM | Universe@Home | Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. 8/8/2016 10:08:08 AM | Universe@Home | Requesting new tasks for NVIDIA GPU 8/8/2016 10:08:11 AM | Universe@Home | [error] No start tag in scheduler reply The same error occurs even if it is not a user requested update and even when the machine is requesting CPU tasks rather than GPU tasks. I've checked the server status online and it has consistently shown all is well when I am requesting updates. Thanks for the help, Mike |

Our project didn't have GPU application at all. Can you try disconnect and connect again to project on one of the computers and see if this solve the problem? Krzysztof 'krzyszp' Piszczek Member of Radioactive@Home team My Patreon profile Universe@Home on YT |

krzyszp: Thanks for the quick reply. As I mentioned in the first post, I get the same error whether CPU or GPU work units are being requested. I had already tried "resetting" the project on all machines, which did not affect the error. After getting your message I tried disconnecting from the project on one of the machines and then reattaching to it. The event log of the reattaching process is duplicated below: 8/8/2016 3:36:12 PM | | Account manager contact succeeded 8/8/2016 3:36:12 PM | | Attaching to http://universeathome.pl/universe/ 8/8/2016 3:36:13 PM | http://universeathome.pl/universe/ | Master file download succeeded 8/8/2016 3:36:19 PM | http://universeathome.pl/universe/ | Sending scheduler request: Project initialization. 8/8/2016 3:36:19 PM | http://universeathome.pl/universe/ | Requesting new tasks for CPU and NVIDIA GPU 8/8/2016 3:36:37 PM | http://universeathome.pl/universe/ | [error] No start tag in scheduler reply 8/8/2016 3:38:24 PM | http://universeathome.pl/universe/ | Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. 8/8/2016 3:38:24 PM | http://universeathome.pl/universe/ | Requesting new tasks for CPU and NVIDIA GPU 8/8/2016 3:38:33 PM | http://universeathome.pl/universe/ | [error] No start tag in scheduler reply 8/8/2016 3:42:03 PM | http://universeathome.pl/universe/ | Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. 8/8/2016 3:42:03 PM | http://universeathome.pl/universe/ | Requesting new tasks for CPU and NVIDIA GPU 8/8/2016 3:42:22 PM | http://universeathome.pl/universe/ | [error] No start tag in scheduler reply Thanks for your continued help, Mike |

This error message suggest that is something wrong, probably with template file on server, but nobody else report this problem and my computers gets work properly... Can you try to find file "sched_reply_universeathome.pl_universe.xml" in your BOINC folder and check if it is valid xml file? I found the file you mentioned and it did appear to be properly formatted, but I was still having the same trouble. I just tried completely uninstalling BOINC, deleting the program data directory entirely, and then reinstalling the program from scratch and reattaching to the projects. That seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks again for your help. |
