Another stress test for server ;) It will be possible that on first two, three hours server will be blocked by uploaders (or more likely - by validator and assimilator) but I'm quite sure that it will go better after first wave. As you know, the competition start last night at 0:00 UTC (2am in Poland). I expect more pressure on the server and had predicted 200 or even 300 percent of average traffic and jobs more as usually. At the moment, we had started with 48'000 jobs in progress yesterday, by 265'000 jobs at midnight last night and we still have about 230'000 jobs in progress right now - this is about 500% of average and server still works (even if slower then should by)! To give you an idea what is going on server there is a small info from Munin (server monitoring tool): The picture shows hard disks utilisation in real time. The black lines and arrow on it shows when work generator generates some tasks (in fact, every time it is 100'000 jobs for you), the red arrow shows As you can see, the biggest pressure is on hard drive, not in CPU, RAM or other elements. Just MySQL operations really kills the machine and we currently operate on the border line, but... I'm ready to react and to kill all not really needed services just to keep project life :) Again, thanks to you and other competitors, we get a good lesson about what we can do, and what we can't with current hardware... But at the end of the day - we have more work units processed in one day then usually in five!
