Kickstarter - Project CubeSat for Disclosure

The First satellite for UFO research. We intend to search low-Earth Orbit for any sign of a real UFO, or any space anomaly.

First, what our Sat is capable of:

Ionized radiation: we have a scintillation counter, that enables us to measure the various radiation in our satellites environment. This is significant as it enables us to detect high energy particles, radiation, and other phenomenon.

Cameras: we will use two cameras with parabolic lenses, giving us a clear 360 degree view around our satellite. We will also be using Infre-Red and full visual spectrum analysis.

Radar: while this is a hope, but may not be feasible, we would like to have radar capabilities on our sat. Mini radars do exist, but they are a very new technology, so it may be difficult to get our hands on it. Radar would give us another tool for measurement, and would be among the first radars in space. If we raise enough funds, maybe we can get a radar on our sat, and have the ability to concretely verify objects in space. Regardless of radar, our radiation detection and imagery will give us enough to verify high energy emitting objects in space.

Costs:

Electrical Command and Data Handler Board Commands and Handles Data to the Board, Connects to the EPS,BBB Board 1 $1,800.00

Industrial Beaglebone Black Board Single Board COmputer 1 $55.00

BBB Host/Camera Interface Board Includes 2x CMOS sensors, 2x 35 mm lens/ F1.9, Geiger Counter 1 $1,000.00

ISIS VHF/UHF Full Duplex Transceiver CubeSatShop.com 1 $9,283.27

2U High Efficiency Solar Panels 28% High-Efficiency Solar Pabels 4 x $1,100.00

1U High Efficiency Solar Panels 28% High-Efficiency Solar Pabels 2 x $700.00

Global Star Duplex Modem 9.6 kbps 1 $375.00

Global Star Antenna 1 $125.00

Screws, Nuts, etc.. 1 $200.00

Total ~$27,397.80

And we have approx $16,000 already invested previous to this kickstart!!!

Like every kid, teen or grownup who loves Star Wars, ET and the X-files, we have been interested in space since we were able to open our eyes and gaze up at the heavens. And like any conscious being, we are interested in the BIG questions. Simply put, we are individuals, not tied to any government or corporation, who would like to have the unfiltered truth of what happens; what is happening, in the new frontier of space. I'm Dave Cote, Project manager and I'm here to help explain why we are sending a Satellite, or CubeSat, into low earth orbit, in the name of Science and Disclosure.First, what our Sat is capable of:Ionized radiation: we have a scintillation counter, that enables us to measure the various radiation in our satellites environment. This is significant as it enables us to detect high energy particles, radiation, and other phenomenon.Cameras: we will use two cameras with parabolic lenses, giving us a clear 360 degree view around our satellite.Radar: while this is a hope, but may not be feasible, we would like to have radar capabilities on our sat. Now, on disclosure:For the past 70 years, the topic of extraterrestrial intelligent beings and UFO's has been controversial, if not ridiculed. Despite many sightings and events, government, military and media have made a strong attempt to discredit the idea of extraterrestrial "aliens". And in the face of their apparent "disbelief" of the topic, the same military and governments have spent huge amounts of money secretly studying these "ridiculous" UFO's and aliens. Thanks to freedom of information, and the actions of many with first hand experience, thousands of documents, witness testimony and data have surfaced, making the ridicule posed on ufology by media and governments seem staged and forced, with a very secret intent. To name a few reasons why this topic is important, and why it must be subjected to rigorous scientific study:1) Countries are beginning to release highly classified documents proving their governments interest in aliens and UFO's.2) Hundreds of highly credible witnesses have come forward with testimony that at least some UFO's are verifiable alien technology. These witnesses include a former Canadian Defense Minister, numerous astronauts, high ranking US military officials, pilots and police officer's. We have already raised over $16,000 so far for the project but need more so we can equip the satellite with all we can pack onboard. This is for all of us, world wide. Don't you want to know, If we are not alone in this universe? We set the donation limit low but we are hoping to raise $50,000 total so we can make the best of our first CubeSat. Help us make history as the First Private Citizen owned Satellite in space.

Up coming articles about our project.

I'm happy to announce that The Huffington Post is doing an article on our project. It should be in a few days and i will post a link to it here. And MUFON, the Mutual UFO Network, is doing a feature article on us also. I will post a link to there article also. Tercer Milenio TV from Mexico has come on board to help push the project also. Our press release just went out a few days ago and is just making it's rounds so the media can pick up on it. We are just getting started and donations are a little slow now. But we expect that to change soon with all the press that is picking up on this. More later and thanks to all who have helped.

Update on communication options

Hi everyone. Update... Looks like we are upgrading to a "U2" CubeSat. It is double the size of a U1 satellite. And as we had planned on using Ham radio as a option for communication, we are dropping that idea. It would cost to much and aquiring Ham opperators world wide would be a hard task. I'm sure that as we construct the satellite, we will make changes sometimes as we go. This is a good upgrade away from Ham, and will be better communication with our satellite.

We would like to thank MUFON for there Huge support on there upcoming article and webpage for us at there site.

I have some concerns regarding this. Your team should address them if you don't want to disappoint yourselves and your donors. A few remarks on the payload:

- Unless you use a high-class Geiger counter, you will not be able to define the type of radiation captured. Even if you do, locating the source would be extremely difficult, as it could be anything from a distant pulsar to a black hole to the Sun itself. Your detector will also need to cover a vast range of energy levels to find any previously unregistered anomalies, and I'm afraid such a comprehensive observatory cannot yet be fitted into a CubeSat. The Fermi Gamma-ray Telescope, which only covers gamma ray emissions, weighs more than 4 tons. A simple commercially available Geiger tube cannot differentiate between alpha, beta and gamma, nor cosmic radiation. It will merely measure the surrounding ionization level.

- Similar concerns for the infrared spectrum. You'll need to cover anything from near to far infrared. Those types of sensors can get quite expensive if quality and performance is what you're looking for (and given the task, quality and performance are paramount).

- Do you have a methodology in place to gather, sort and analyse data or distinguish an anomaly from a sensor glitch, airplanes, interference from other satellites, space junk or natural deep space emissions ? If you lack this, you'll get a lot of false positives. Also take into account that your project will not be the first one to study possible alien presence. SETI has been scanning deep space radio emissions for years, and so far they haven't come up with anything. Satellites with radars are also currently in orbit and the only things they detect up there are either meteors, space junk or other satellites. Your coverage will also be patchy (it's only one satellite that observes a portion of the planet) so you'll have to consider your sensing payload very carefully. If you want to detect a UFO, you'll certainly need a payload capable of tracking the speed and flight path of an object, then you should be able to compare the data you have with databases of registered objects in flight (civilian or military planes, helicopters and so forth). In general, your task is really tough and might be outside the capacity of a CubeSat.

- After taking all these things into consideration and clarify the physical parameters of what you look for, you'll need to pick up a useful orbit.

I also have some questions pertaining to the bus:

1) There doesn't seem to be any mention of an attitude control system of any sort. How will you control the satellite's orientation ?

2) Ham radio can be much easier to use than non-amateur bands. The international amateur radio operator community is very active, especially when it comes to satellite signals. If I recall correctly, a few years ago they even helped locate a lost CubeSat by listening for its transmissions. I believe it was one of the BeeSats. Using non-amateur frequencies can be burdensome as you have to deal with the ITU. So, do you have an actual rationale to use a non-amateur frequency ?

3) How do you plan to locate the satellite once it is up there ?

4) What orbit will you use ? This has to be defined by the necessities of the payload, but having it clear is crucial. You should also make sure that your SLV can actually put the object in the designated type of orbit.

5) Will you use just one bus, or you will have an additional one for the testing procedures ? Have you considered a second bus when drafting your financial plan ?

You'll need to be a lot more precise if you are to succeed with your campaign (and your mission anyway).
