I never met Krzysztof personally, but I think the world needs more like him. Unfortunately there is now one less. My condolences go out to his family and friends.

You use NVidia cards and a AMD card in one system? This could be a problem. Stop the work for the AMD card (or take it out of the system) and watch what happen.
Maybe your M2 is to hot?

Yes, it looks like we have still a problem here. The user of the day, is it since two days....i guess. I have increased my bunker to 2 days, so if there is a longer break and maintenance work, I am covered.

Thank you Krzysztof for the quick support! I hope the work on the system is limited. I currently only have 2 projects running around the clock. Einstein and Universe! :-)

I was just about to start a thread about this too. Universe does not currently provide any data for the statistics pages. I think someone have to take a look in the machine room to see, if a cog wheel is stuck.

How hot is your CPU? If you running many WUs, the temperature is maybe high. Thus, the clock is reduced and the calculation time is longer. The traffic on the bus is then also high, with so many cores calculating at the same time. That slows everything down a bit. But hey, the output is still enormous!

My i3 8300 has a rang from 1300sec to 3500sec. "Normal" for a 5950X, you can see her:

https://wuprop.boinc-af.org/results/duree.py?fabricant=AMD&type=Ryzen+9+%28Vermeer%29&modele=Ryzen+9+5950X&tri=projet&sort=asc
https://wuprop.boinc-af.org/results/graph_duree.py?projet=wanless2&application=Random-base%20WEP%20Factorization&plateforme=all&cpuid=39

But it depends of how many WUs are running and how good and fast your system is.

I use Win10 and orcal VB with Linux Mint Mate 20.x. It works very fine. Xfce would be enough, too, i think.
I´m sure, Mint 21.x would be a good choice, too.
Important is to have is the GLIBC library 2.31 or newer. Older versions are slower with universe (~50%). I guess Mint 20.2 and newer use the GLIBC library 2.31.

Hi,

my Output rise with this new Version. With the old Version v0.19, my i3 8300 (with linux mint 20.3) need constanly between 0,5-0,9h, now 0,28-0,8h. The biggest part of the WUs needs 0,3h-0,5h. All WU are valid...i like it. ;-)

Just got info:
"Disks estimated arrival time: 01-FEB-2022".

Good news is "remote hands" will replace it for me as soon as disks arrives, then in one or maximum two days later move whole system to them. Another good news is the new disks will be much faster and allow me to make more spare tasks on same time.

Over 7.000 WUs are still in progress and falling very slowly to 0. Maybe you should break them up and resent the WUs for a faster way to 0 ?

In my system are 3x GPUs and a Ryzen 5. I took the temperature from the CPU to regulate the cooling system...it is the last in line of the heatproducers and the only way to conect the cooling with a temperature.
If only the GPUs are crunching, the temp is high at the GPUs, but the CPU is under 45°C. So the cooling system need finetuning, e.g. 45°C on the CPU -> 60% coolingpower for 65°C on the GPUs. The right setting you only get by try it step by step.
If only the CPU is crunching and you want 60°C on it, 60% cooling power is too much. 50% or less is enough. With the old setting, you never get under 60% cooling power for 60°C.

If you crunching always universe with the same workload, the BIOS-setting works fine. But if you switch the workload/projekts or during the Pentathlon or other challenges, you have to change the cooling settings very often and so you have always restart the system. Under windows, the finetuning is done in seconds.

I think that is normal. Linux is the better OS for Universe. Look at WUprop...linux 64bit vs. win10 64bit...linux is 3 or 4x faster.
http://wuprop.boinc-af.org/results/projet.py?projet=Universe%40Home&application=Universe+BHspin+v2 for Universe BHspin v2.

A way for you is maybe, Win 10 as the OS and linux in a VM.

The drivers for GPUs under windows are better/newer/updated. Another thing is, i have a costum watercoolsystem. Under Linux i can´t regulate the pump and the fanspeeds. All on 100% and that is not what i want. ;-) So Linux in a VM and with the main Win10 OS, i can control everything for the GPUs and coolingsystem.

Great Job. This Projekt is on a high level und one of the best! The 0.03 are very short (an old j2900 with Linux need 11 - 13 minutes) and until now, no one is invalid.

Some of the WUs running fine, with the same specs of maximum discusage.
The WUs that crashing on my system, crash on other systems, too.

I have now a WU with 100% and one data-file were only 135MB. I can´t look so fast for the other file, because the WU at this time was at 100% and next moment uploaded ... :-/

https://universeathome.pl/universe/result.php?resultid=33277772

The question is, why some WUs need so much diskspace? Can you resend some of this invalid with higher limit of allowed discuse? If they become valid, we find a way...if they become invalid (not by error discusage), theres a problem with the WUs and they never become valid.
