14606 Universe@Home 26/05/2023 4:03:47 PM Project requested delay of 11 seconds

BUT when I look at the server status it says there is a lot of work

Tasks ready to send 3354136

This is an example machine:

https://universeathome.pl/universe/show_host_detail.php?hostid=661320

My preferences are set to accept all tasks and also Test tasks.

Is the server just bogged down because of the Formula BOINC Challenge ??

I understand that is the server admin or creator of Radioactive@home (Krzysztof Piszczek) and also the server admin on this project.

Radioactive@home validator stopped working and then the web page went down. There has been no communication with the users of this project that have bought sensors to send data to the project.

Please advise if radioactive@home is dead or this is just a short break in production.

You owe the users some answer.

Can we get a new application for Linux running on 64-bit ARM please. There must be a lot of Pi4's out there and users that want to use Ubuntu 64 bit Raspbian.

I have been trying to get work for my Pi 4 4 Gb that has Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS [5.4.0-1038-raspi 64 bit server loaded on it. We have tried a bunch of things to get it to work but in the end the work units always error and fail. Have a look at this thread for more information.

https://universeathome.pl/universe/forum_thread.php?id=576&postid=4751

Rosetta, TN-Grid, MLC@HOME, LHC@Home WU-Prop, iTHena, and NFS@Home all have applications that work on the Pi4 with Linux 64 bit ARM.

BUT I want to run Universe on my Pi4's ( see the thread)

I tried
ldconfig -v
and only saw the 64 bit lib so I ran
sudo /sbin/ldconfig -n /lib
and
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/
and made it permanent with
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/.

I downloaded more work but they aborted with the same error. I rebooted the machine and tried more work and got the same result.

https://universeathome.pl/universe/result.php?resultid=159256341

I guess I will have to wait for the developers on this project to write an application for the Pi 4

CPU type ARM
BCM2835 [Impl 0x41 Arch 8 Variant 0x0 Part 0xd08 Rev 3]
Number of processors 4
Coprocessors ---
Operating System Linux Ubuntu
64 bit Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS [5.4.0-1038-raspi|libc 2.31 (Ubuntu GLIBC 2.31-0ubuntu9.2)]

Thanks for the help especially Keith for his suggestions and help. :)

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 84 Jun 28 15:43 jobbh2_19.0.xml

I downloaded some more tasks but got the same peoblem.

https://universeathome.pl/universe/result.php?resultid=159236650

I do not know what how to do this
export the 32 bit libraries to userland for the application to see them.

I added the code to the /var/lib/boinc-client/cc_config.xml file but still got the message on line 1. that it was using the default.
I added the file to /usr/bin as that is where the command boinc is located and restarted BOINC and it now does not show the default in line one and the following lines are in the startup.

I added the code to the /var/lib/boinc-client/cc_config.xml filecommands:
ubuntu@c8:~$ sudo cat /var/lib/boinc-client/cc_config.xml
<!--
This is a minimal configuration file cc_config.xml of the BOINC core client.
For a complete list of all available options and logging flags and their
meaning see: https://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/client_configuration
-->
<cc_config>
  <log_flags>
    <task>1</task>
    <file_xfer>1</file_xfer>
    <sched_ops>1</sched_ops>
  </log_flags>
    <alt_platform>arm-unknown-linux-gnueabihf</alt_platform>
    <alt_platform>armv7l-unknown-linux-gnueabihf</alt_platform>
    <alt_platform>aarch64-unknown-linux-gnu</alt_platform>

</cc_config>

I ran the following commands:
dpkg --add-architecture armhf
apt-get update (ignore the missing x386 packages and hope for the best)
apt-get install libc6:armhf libstdc++6:armhf

I shutdown BOINC and restarted but still not getting work from Universe@home.

Add these to the options section of the cc_config.xml, save and restart the boinc client.

    <alt_platform>armv7l-unknown-linux-gnueabihf</alt_platform>
    <alt_platform>aarch64-unknown-linux-gnu</alt_platform>

What folder does it go in. I put it in the usr/bin/projects/universeathome.pl_universe folder but when I started boinc the first entry in the event log is 26/06/2021 4:02:27 PM | | cc_config.xml not found - using defaults. I also changed the ones that already existed in
/var/lib/boinc-client/cc_config.xml
/etc/boinc-client/cc_config.xml

I cannot get work from Universe as I am running Linux Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS [5.4.0-1038-raspi 64 bit on the Pi4 4 gb and it is not recognised by Universe. I had a look at their server status and only BHspin v2 applications are available and they do not support Linux running on 64-bit ARM. The only app that does is Neutron Star and Black Hole, which rarely has any work, and there is none of those available currently.

As Universe BHspin v2 seems to be the only application that is running lately is it possable to get an application for Linux running on 64-bit ARM.

Pi4 with 4 or 8 gb have been out for a long time now and they support Ubuntu 64 bit so there would be a lot of users that have them that could contribute to Unuverse.

Have a good one
16) Message boards : Number crunching : Some task run longer than usual (Message 3737)
Posted 26 Aug 2019 by Profile Dingo
Post:
Just a comparison from the same Raspbian V3 machine from one of the Team members that was crunching Universe and have since moved on.

Looking at a V3 that has validated tasks on both work units:

Universe New work unit and Credit

(24900.29/3600) / 666.7 credits = 6.916747222222222 ‬credits per hour

Universe old credit on same machine

(6711.44/3600) / 666.67 = 357.6001573432825‬ credits per hour

I think the extent of the drop is what is the issue, but if you can run your project without people volunteering their computers, at their expense, to do the work, carry on.

Are the upload files always going to be so large? They are running between 25 and 50 Mb which is huge when most project uploads are well under 1 Mb.
